The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, the University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, is the largest and one of the most prominent medical centers in the country. With over 2200 inpatient care beds and 110 residency and fellowship programs on two campuses, NYP is a powerhouse of clinical and academic medicine. Our skill and reputation as an internationally renowned quaternary care referral center as well as our role as a community hospital treating New York City residents who live in our surrounding neighborhoods allow NYP to provide an unparalleled clinical experience.
Our Emergency Departments (ED) treat almost 150,000 patient annually. They carry Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center designations. Our Weill Cornell ED serves as the receiving unit for the largest and busiest burn unit in the country, The William Randolph Hearst Burn Center. In addition, our affiliation with The Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital further enhances our patient mix. Our Columbia Presbyterian ED provides Pediatric Emergency Services for the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York.
As the University Hospital for Columbia and Cornell, the residents from our program will enjoy the benefits of being associated with these two prestigious medical schools. Leaders in NIH funding and home to world class researchers, Cornell and Columbia Universities will allow our residents access to research and scholarly activities in such areas as basic science, medical error reduction, transplant medicine, burn medicine, stroke research and interventional radiology. This association will present unique opportunities to form a collaborative and research mentor relationship with leading researchers.
The depth and breadth of experience available at NYP is unparalleled and we feel strongly that NYP will provide a complete clinical education for our residents.
