In July 2007 two members of the NYP international medicine team and one IEM fellow traveled to Ulcinj, Montenegro. The healthcare system there has been in flux since the dilution of human resource capacity when Montenegro became an independent country. The team served in an advisory role to conduct an initial assessment for how emergency healthcare capacity could be improved. Duties included direct clinical supervision, recommendations for capacity improvement, and participation in a disaster team for a mass public gathering.
