Health System Strengthening for Equity: The Power and Potential of Mid-level Providers (HSSE) http://www.midlevelproviders.org/

This project aims to assist the HSSE in reducing maternal and newborn mortality by scaling up the development and deployment of mid-level providers (MLPs). Specifically, the project aims to establish a role for MLPs in the private sector providing Emergency obstetric care and anesthetic services. By understand some of the factors that draw health workers to the private sector, the project hopes to make recommendations to policy makers and project managers regarding the retention of health workers in the public sector.
